Chado Urasenke Tankokai San Francisco Association Cherry Blossom Festival (Sakura Matsuri) Tea Ceremony Demonstration
The Chado Urasenke Tankokai San Francisco Association held its annual Sakura Matsuri (Cherry Blossom Festival) tea ceremony demonstration on April 17, 2022, at the location of the former Takara Restaurant located in San Francisco’s Japantown. The Association Board members volunteered and hosted three tea demonstrations.
The Chief of Administration of the Association, HAGIWARA Sojin, served as a narrator for the event.
IWAO Somi served as teishu (host), Sochi Takeda Flynn served as hanto (assistant), and URAMOTO Sokyu was the first guest during the first seating which began at noon.
HARUTA Sojun served as teishu, URAMOTO Sokyu served as hanto, and NAKATANI Soko was the first guest during the second seating.
URAMOTO Sokyu served as teishu, Soai Kincaid-Yoshikawa served as hanto, and Soko Liu Hase was the first guest of the third seating.
A total of 26 guests were seated for each demonstration, and numerous additional observers watched from outside. The event was very successful.
